At a young age, 26 years old, Mia Putri - not the actual name - must have battled with colon cancer when a malignant tumor of a chicken egg size residing in her colon. Whereas, in Indonesia, the cancer that attacks 1,8 per 100.000 population is normally found in male or female above 50 years old.
According to dr Sunarto Reksoprawiro SpB(K)Onk, an oncology surgeon of dr Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya, colon cancer may be triggered by genetic factor. If in the family history there is a cancer sufferer, then any person of blood related will have a bigger chance to suffer cancer as well. Another cause is from consuming high fat and low fiber food. Since it takes longer for the fat to be digested, so that it oftenly accumulates on the colon walls. If it is neglected, the fat accumulation will damage colon walls which usually ends up in colon cancer.
As advised by her doctor, Mia then underwent a surgery. Post surgery, Mia had chemotherapy and CEA (Carcinoembryonik Antigen) level checking once in 3 months. CEA is a tumor antigen found in the blood of cancer sufferers, particularly in colon, breast, pancreas, bladder, ovary, and cervix. CEA level checking is required to monitor the development of cancer cell post-surgery. ‘Whenever the CEA level rises, it is the sign of the tumor relapses or the cancer cell has spread to other organs,’ explained Sunarto. For six times having chemotherapy, her CEA level was normal; below 5 ng/ml. Thus, she was no longer required to have chemotherapy, but needed only to have CEA checking.
Up until October 2008, her CEA level was still below threshold, but it changed in January 2009 after Mia had another CEA checking. Surprisingly, her CEA level rose to 5,5 ng/ml from 3,8 ng/ml 3 months before. The cancer had apparently relapsed. She was afraid the CEA level would keep rising. ‘I was no longer able to hold the pain like I had used to,’ said the 5th daughter of 6 siblings. Her family did not have the heart to let her being hospitalized again. Mariam (not the actual name) - Mia's sister - effortfully tried to look for alternative cancer medication in the internet where she found information about the efficacy of rodent tuber as anticancer herbal. Mariam then advised Mia to have a try on the herbal. For the sake of recovery, Mia then gave in to try.
She bought 60 rodent tubers at price of IDR5.000/plant directly from a herbal plant supplier in Bekasi. Mia processed the whole part of the plant for one drink intake. The corm, stem, and leaves are pounded well and then squezzed. She drank the juice with a spoonful of honey every morning and evening on regular basis. After a month, a good result started to show. When she took a medical check up in February 2009, her CEA level went down to 2 ng/ml. The positive result made Mia frequently consume rodent tuber up to present. Another check up in March 2009 showed that the CEA level was constant at 2 ng/ml which means the cancer cells are failed to proliferate and it means Mia will relapse suffering from cancer no more.
